My “Bucket List” (a.k.a. why I bother with budgeting)

Everyone understands what a “bucket list” is – a list of things you want to do before you “kick the bucket.” The name needs some updating, if you ask me.

My list of Stuff I Wanna Do Before I Drop Dead (eloquent, no?):

  • Skydive
  • Paraglide
  • Visit, like, a BUNCH of countries
  • Live for a year abroad
  • Ride an elephant (or just meet one, idk)
  • Learn to surf
  • Swim with sharks
  • Ride in a hot air balloon
  • Scuba dive
  • Become fluent in a second language (probably Spanish)
  • Learn photography
  • Own a home
  • Own pets (dogs, cats, chickens, a duck or two…)
  • Raise a child (or two?)
  • Learn how to sew pants!
  • Volunteer, volunteer, volunteer.
  • Live a full life, unencumbered by excessive debts

I’ve never actually written a bucket list before. But the reasons to be debt-free and financially stable are basically endless, and it helps to put it in perspective of things you actually want (instead of reasons you might hear that other people want). It’s energizing to take a moment to picture the kinds of life you hope to have. My list will obviously grow and change, probably on a near-daily basis, but it’s great to have a starting point for my own motivations.

What’s on your “Stuff I Wanna Do Before I Drop Dead” list? 🙂
